Signal is an encrypted communications application for Android and iOS. This article shouldn't prompt anyone to stop using @signalapp, which thanks to its design and governance remains probably the best E2EE mobile message service. What's especially frustrating arethe comments endorsing Telegram, which does NOT encrypt messages by default.

@telegram To make sure I'm covered, I've signed up to @ThreemaApp as well as using @signalapp and that's purely because Signal uses AWS Servers which makes it vulnerable to US Gov Legislation.

With all of the stories regarding @signalapp being insecure, nobody checks @telegram on the metadata it collects & stores, nor where their servers are run or who has access to the data stored on there. @signalapp has provably demonstrated they don't store masses of data on you.

Occasionally the @signalapp desktop app just disappears on my mac, does this happen to anyone else? I then have to redownload it?
