Hipmunk was a travel search engine and fare aggregator that launched in 2010. It helped users find and compare flights, hotels, and car rentals. Hipmunk was known for its distinctive approach to travel search, using an "Agony Index" to rank flight options based on a combination of cost, duration, and layovers, which aimed to make travel planning more intuitive and less stressful. The site also offered hotel search capabilities with similar emphasis on ease of comparison.
Hipmunk was founded by Steve Huffman and Adam Goldstein and was acquired by Concur in 2016. Concur, in turn, was acquired by SAP, and Hipmunk ceased operations in 2020.
