The capabilities of this system are great, but the implementation of the software is appallingly bad. If you want to delete a sprinkler head in a zone, you have to delete them all and then add back in the ones that are left. Drawing the zones and locating the sprinkler heads is incredibly difficult with fat finger positioning on your phone. The very least they should do is have a PC app where you can use a mouse to precisely put things that you want in a particular location.
Why do you need my precise location to connect to my Wi-Fi network, seems like spyware
Rachio just added 1/2 page ads right into the main app interface, which blocks you from using it until you close the ad! When will these companies learn that installing ads into app interfaces does not result in additional sales, but just upsets the customer and sends them to their competitors when the device needs to be replaced.
I have the app because I have the valve controller. It's a necessity to make controlling the system easy. However, they've started to make you pay for new features such as valve health monitoring. The controllers are not cheap. Maybe include upgrades/updates free of charge to controller owners.
The app doesn't recognize me telling a zone to run more than half the time. Pretty annoying when trying to do repairs and adjustments. Bought this system so I didnt have to keep running back and forth to the controller
I tried to add a wifi hub using the Android app but was unable to connect the hub to my wifi. I read that others with the same issue were able to work around using an Apple device instead. I tried my wife's iPad, and sure enough, the process completed smoothly. So the Android app gets a 1 star for being non-functional until this issue is fixed. If you can't add new devices to your wifi, your whole shiny system is DOA. Rachio makes good stuff, but its Android app team should be embarrassed.
The app is riddled with ads for additional products and upcharge features. I just spent $200 on a smart sprinkler controller. Why do I have to pay extra to get valve monitoring?
Great for the in ground sprinkler system absolutely terrible for the smart hose timer....!!
Alienated original customer here. I bought the original Rachio controller years ago and feel like I'm being forced to the new product because they are dropping support for mine, so I relented and bought a Rachio 3 but because mine was a 6 zone and they didn't have that as an upgrade option I bought an 8 zone. They told me I can't migrate my settings to the new unit. That original setup was a giant pain that I'm not willing to do again. No thanks. Happy customer -> Enemy.
Nothing works the first 10-15 times. Many attempts required to add the hub and timers. One of the timers is bricked because of a failed firmware update.
