The company has a significant customer base in the Midwest and Southeast, and it is the largest broadband provider in Iowa. Founded in 1995 by Rocco B. Commisso, who is also the owner of the New York Cosmos and ACF Fiorentina, Mediacom is headquartered in New York and incorporated in Delaware. Once a publicly traded company, Mediacom went private in a $600 million transaction in March 2011 and is now solely owned by Commisso.

@MediacomCable Internet with 5+ service outages in the past week and several more in the last month…have to do better than that…getting out of control and offering a terrible product at this point! @metronetfiber might be on my call list this week

@MediacomCable is down once again claiming a cable cut. 5 times in 6 months. About time the #publicservicecommision starts looking hard into the Public Awareness Policy of Mediacom. This is way too much.
